Yes… some of my shirts are made in the USA, simply because there is very little shirt manufacturing available in Canada beyond basic T-shirts. My shirts are produced in the Democrat state of New York, the state that stood up with us against the renaming of our dear Lake Ontario, by a fair, safe, eco-friendly, and non-discriminatory company. I’ve been working with this manufacturer for more than 14 years, and over that time, I’ve developed close and caring relationships with the people there. Choosing this US based manufacturer minimize greatly the risk for labour abuse and environment impact that some overseas apparel manufacturers are known for.

 With time, I hope the clothing manufacturing sector in Canada will grow. But for now, many of us—artists, makers, and small businesses—find ourselves in this tricky position, with so many of the materials and supplies we rely on still being made south of the border.
